Skye

An Unlikely Story

Skye's fascination with the universe began at the age of 5, when she received a telescope as a birthday gift. Countless nights were spent twirling and spinning as she stargazed looking through her hand-held telescope marveling at the vastness of the cosmos. This awe-inspiring experience led her to pursue a career in astronomy and space exploration. She not only excelled academically, but she also studied and integrated expressive arts to find balance. Skye’s dream was to combine her love for dance and astronomy, to create a show performed monthly at the Planetarium that would transport people to the far reaches of the universe through dance, inspiring them to look up at the night sky with wonder and curiosity. Her dream came true and other Planetariums have subscribed to the video performance and the proceeds go to furthering inventive ways to spread the love of the universe to everyone through the internet.

Fun Fact: Fun Fact: Skye can rattle off the 7 layers of the atmosphere and for fun turns it into a rap song to get her students hooked on science rather than put them to sleep (by the way, we live in the Troposphere!)

Mannequin Reflections - Behind the Glass

Imagine standing before a stunning window display, a world of fantasy and glamour frozen in time. The mannequins, seemingly alive, pose amidst intricate sets, a testament to the artistry of the designer.

This was the inspiration for my blog series, Mannequin Reflections. Armed with nothing more than my iPhone, I began capturing these captivating scenes, drawn to the unique interplay of light and reflection.

As I experimented with different angles and perspectives, I realized that the glass itself was an integral part of the story. It acted as a mirror, reflecting the world outside and creating a mesmerizing blend of reality and illusion.

It was in these reflections that I found my muse. I began to envision the lives of these mannequins, the stories they could tell if only they could speak.
